Working Towards a Better Tomorrow

Our sole purpose is to encourage and support women living alone that cannot qualify for a market-rate apartment or obtain social services assistance because they don't have dependent children. By choice or by chance, many women will be single for a portion of their adult lives. Women who are alone because of divorce, death of a spouse, single by choice, or alone in a marriage (through physical separations, illness, or estrangement) will find transitional residency in Oasis Home and its dormitory-style living with shared common areas, stabilizing.

Research suggests that people who have stable, decent homes are more likely to hold down a job and overcome barriers. There is also evidence that a mix of quality housing options helps make communities more vibrant, diverse, and livable. Today, millions of renters have trouble finding a decent, stable, and affordable home - especially one with ready access to work, transit, and schools. Part of the problem is that wages at the bottom of the economic ladder have not kept pace with rising rents. This is especially true for women who do not have children and cannot be classified or qualified to participate in government-sponsored home subsidy programs. They are most vulnerable to homelessness and instability.
